Season Review: Simon Pagenaud

In a series of blogs that will be featured throughout the offseason, I review and talk about all 21 full-time drivers of the 2013 Indycar Season one at a time. I try to be as honest as I can in these reveiws, and I would like to hear your thoughts on what I say. Enjoy:

Simon Pagenaud
#77 Schmidt Peterson Motorsports

3rd in points scoring 508 points.

Best finish: 1st (x2 Detroit Race 2, Baltimore)
Worst finish: 24th (St. Petersburg)

Best moment: First career win at Detroit
Worst moment: St. Petersburg

Grade: A+

Simon Pagenaud had an unreal season, and in doing so, he has proven to the paddock that he is an elite driver. Honestly, who saw it coming? Two wins at Detroit and Baltimore (Detroit was his first career Indycar win), 13 top-tens, and only two DNFs made for an amazing season. Every race, he seemed like he was up racing at the top with the best of the field. Other than a mechanical failure at St. Petersburg, Simon's worst finish was P13. P13!!! That is simply amazing.

I am so impressed with the season Simon had and hope he can equal this mark again next year. Look for him to be strong again. He will be under new colors in 2014 with the same team in Schmidt Peterson Hamilton Motorsports.
