Season Review: EJ Viso

In a series of blogs that will be featured throughout the offseason, I review and talk about all 21 full-time drivers of the 2013 Indycar Season one at a time. I try to be as honest as I can in these reveiws, and I would like to hear your thoughts on what I say. Enjoy:

EJ Viso
#5 Andretti Autosport/HVM/Team Venezuela

15th in points scoring 340 points.

Best finish: 4th (Milwaukee)
Worst finish: 22nd (Long Beach)

Best moment: P4 finish at Milwaukee
Worst moment: Fontana

Grade: C-

EJ Viso joined Andretti Auotsport in the offseason and was looking for a career year, which he got in some ways. A 4th place finish at Milwaukee, making the Fast Nine at Indianapolis, and getting his first career pole at Detroit Race 1 were all highlights of his season. But on an overall basis, EJ did not have the year he was looking for. And things went from bad to worse with EJ getting wrapped up in a scandal which was made public at the season finale at Fontana. While it was reported that EJ was "sick", news surfaced that several Venezuelan racing drivers were rumored to defrauding the Venezuelan Government of money. If that's the case, EJ could be in legal trouble.

With no new news, Viso looks to be Sports Car bound after a relatively unsuccessful stint in Indycar. His spot at Andretti Autosport has been taken by Carlos Munoz. A personal friend of mine, EJ is agreat guy. I wish people took more time to get to know him. I'll miss him in the series. Hopefully we see him at Indianapolis at the very least.
