Question is, who replaces him? The obvious answer is Ryan Briscoe. Ryan has driven for Ganassi in the past and is a top notch driver. Unfortunately, the weekend of Indycar at Fontana is also the weekend of Petit Le Mans in ALMS, so we will not see him, or any driver with Indycar experience who is committed to ALMS.
Who else is there? Well, there are a host of drivers willing and able to drive for Chip. An underlying factor to this is the ride has been payed for by sponsors, meaning a driver shouldn't be required to bring money to support a one-off. That can be a limiting factor as far as who you choose. Many drivers, like Wade Cunningham, Ana Beatriz, Bruno Junqueira (who has raced in Ganassi in the past), Rubens Barrichello, Michel Jourdain Jr, Stefan Wilson, Tomas Scheckter (also a former Ganassi driver), and some others.
For me, it comes down to two drivers: Alex Tagliani and Conor Daly. Alex Tagliani is a safe choice, given that he is a seasoned veteran in Indycar. He has logged many laps in the DW12 and did race for BHA at Fontana in 2012. He was sacked from the BHA ride following Toronto for a lackluster season, but make no mistake, Tags has the skill to jump in the car and wheel, especially since it could be a chance to redeem himself and show the other teams that he still has "it". He is looking to get back in an Indycar in 2014.

The other clear choice that I would love to see is Conor Daly. The young American made his Indycar debut at the 2013 Indianapolis 500 for AJ Foyt. Despite having an up and down month, Conor proved his talent level, overcoming adverse situations and finishing the race in one piece. Anyone who thinks Conor can't hustle a car around a track may need to have a brain scan to see if they indeed have a brain. The next GP3 race, in which Conor is currently racing, is not until November, leaving Conor with options to race during the break. Despite pursuing his dream of being a F1 driver, Conor is very much open to a number of possibilities, one of them being Indycar.
Tags? Daly? Cunningham? *insert name here*? Who do you think should get the ride for Fontana? Let me know what you think!
