Updated Twitter Stats

Back in February, I took note of all Indycar related drivers (and the Indycar account) to see the trends of some drivers. It's about that time for an update! Here is the updated list! Column one is the driver and their stats. Column two is the amount of followers they had in February. Category is how many followers they had as of August 15th. Column four is percent change from February till now. Drivers with two dashes in a colummns two and four were due to me not logging how many followers they had in February. Here's the list!

Time for some non Indycar related drivers and other racing accounts to compare with updated follower counts (in no particular order):

NASCAR Account -    1,165,496
Danica Patrick -    944,080
F1 -    581,229
Lewis Hamilton -    1,674,932
Rubens Barrichello -    1,998,095

Quite a contrast when you compare Indycar to the two head hanchos of racing (F1 and NASCAR). Bringing Juan Pablo Montoya back to Indycar would be massive boost in media exposure and what not. Also, only having Rubens Barrichello in Indycar for a year was not a benefit to Indycar. Having him stick around for a couple years would have been a massive benefit for the series.

I also feel obliged to point out that ESPN NASCAR Reporter Marty Smith outfollows every full time Indycar driver excluding TK and Dario with upwards of 93,000 followers. Puts things into perspective.

In positive news, the Official Indycar Twitter account did grow by 18.9%. That's something to build on. 100K should be on the horizon.

My personal favorites to follow on Twitter based solely on their interaction with fans are James Hinchcliffe (@Hinchtown), Josef Newgarden (@josefnewgarden), Alex Tagliani (@Tagliani), and Tony Kanaan (@TonyKanaan).

Let me know what you think!
