Winners and Losers: Mid-Ohio

Here are the winners, losers, and cone of shame "winner" following Mid-Ohio:

Winners

Scott Dixon
The King of Mid-Ohio captures his fourth win there, the most in the history of Indycar at this great venue. Dixon also catapults himself right into the thick of things in the title hunt.

Honda
Winning in front of all of their employees was a huge win for them. Also their first win since Wilson did it at Texas.

Giorgio Pantano
Giorgio proved that he can run well and is deserving of rides in the future, he did a fantastic job!

Will Power
Ladies and gentlemen, your new points leader.

Losers

Ryan Hunter-Reay
An engine failure was the last thing Ryan needed, as his big points lead has disappeared quicker than Jamaica's chances at winning a bobsled medal.

Dario Franchitti
A P6 results thrown out the window, and unfortunately, so has Dario's chances at winning the title, as he has an uphill Everest-like climb to the top.

Justin Wilson
Justin without question had the strongest car in the race but had contact with Rubens and spun out. A damn shame, he could have won that race.

Helio Castroneves
A huge hit in points for Helio, who never got in sync in the race. And now he sits P3 in the points, but he can still win the title.

Cone of Shame

Bruton Smith
Why Bruton Smith? Well, no one in Indycar did anything blatantly stupid this week that was worthy of Da Cone, so we might as well cone someone who is very deserving of it. I guess we could make the connection that two straight entertaining races with no cautions proves you do not need cautions to have great racing. Take that Bruton Smith.

Let me know what you think.

  1. Bourdais almost had a cone of shame had he tried to pass Pagenaud late in the race in T4. I doubt he could have made the pass without wrecking him. It was a moment everyone watching there stood up & held their breath.
